Privateers Handle Insulaires, Nab 4-1 Win
|
Privateers Grounds was the site for Ligue du Baseball du Quebec action featuring the Laval Insulaires and Sherbrooke Privateers.
The Sherbrooke Privateers beat the Laval Insulaires, 4-1. Sherbrooke pitcher and Fajardo, Puerto Rico, native Segundo Arana led the way. Arana got the win, improving to 4-4. He gave up 7 hits and walked 0 over 8.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Álvar Saldívar recorded the save for Sherbrooke, his 1st of the season.
The Privateers got a big at-bat from third baseman Juan Oliveros. For the game, Oliveros went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Sherbrooke a 2-0 lead.
"Makes our job easier," said Oliveros, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
With the win, Sherbrooke goes to 16-23, while the Insulaires fall to 15-24.
