|
The Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants beat the Markham Wheelwrights, 7-3, at Thunder Bay Grounds. Thunder Bay right fielder Raúl Díaz had an outstanding performance. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Disibodo Abeyta got the win, improving to 5-6. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 4. The third-place Wheelwrights dropped to 36-36.
Díaz had a key at-bat for Thunder Bay in the bottom of the first. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and gave Thunder Bay an early 4-0 lead.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Díaz.
