Disibodo Abeyta never let Nipissing get something going. The Thunder Bay right-hander commanded his splitter in pitching the Sleeping Giants to a 5-1 win. Abeyta got the win, improving to 7-7. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Édgar Martínez earned save number 4 this season.
Thunder Bay used the hitting of Eduardo Jiménez to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sleeping Giants on top, 5-0. For the game, Jiménez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It never gets old," said Abeyta. "Winning, that is."
At 48-40, the Sleeping Giants find themselves in second place in the Ontario Baseball Association Ontario North.
