Sleeping Giants Get Clutch Win, 9-8
The Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants defeated the Kitchener Wild Pigeons, 9-8, in 10 innings at Thunder Bay Grounds. Gerardo Coronel was a standout performer for Thunder Bay. His 4 hits included 2 singles and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. The win belonged to Catamantaloedes Sánchez in relief. His record improves to 3-4. Roberto Quevedo took the loss for Kitchener. The win makes Thunder Bay 51-44.

The decisive blow was delivered in the bottom of the tenth when Aldomiro Acosta hit a run-scoring double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Roberto Quevedo to win the game for Thunder Bay. The home crowd went wild.

"Whenever I help the team," said Coronel, "I feel like I earned my paycheck."
