Martínez Stars in 8-2 Bucherons Win
|
The exploits of third baseman Aurelio Martínez, who is tied for 5th in the LBQ in runs scored with 49, helped the Thurso Bucherons defeat the Trois-Rivieres Trifluviens, 8-2. Martínez went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. After today's action, Thurso sits at 39-56, while Trois-Rivieres falls to 57-38.
Thurso second baseman Rufino Corona contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 59th hit of the season and put the Bucherons ahead, 2-0.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Eliezer García.
