The Sault Ste. Marie Rapids picked up a win at Thunder Bay Grounds, knocking off the Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants, 4-3. Starting pitcher Hernán Martínez played a key role in the triumph. Sault Ste. Marie, at 53-54, sits in 4th place in the Ontario Baseball Association Ontario North.

Sault Ste. Marie used a timely hit from Manuel Ramírez to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rapids ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"Hernán did a good job of managing their lineup," said Sault Ste. Marie manager Silverio Gómez.
