In the 5-2 Sudbury win over Sault Ste. Marie, the impact of Alfredo Valencia was substantial. Valencia, who leads the OBA in extra base hits with 49, hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The first-place Meteors improved to 66-39.

Valencia had a big hit for Sudbury with two out in the top of the fifth. With Sudbury leading 2-1, Valencia hit a 2-run home run. It was his 25th home run of the season and put the Meteors up, 4-1.

Valencia called the win "a collective effort."
