Fernández Shuts Out Laval, 1-0
The Sherbrooke Privateers did little to support starter Luis Fernández against the Laval Insulaires, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Insulaires, striking out 4 and surrendering 3 hits. The performance from Fernández allowed Sherbrooke to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said, 'Luis, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Fernández told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

To date, Fernández has a 18-9 mark in 28 starts with a 2.35 ERA. He has given up 198 hits in 256.2 innings, struck out 146 and issued 52 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .218 batting average against him.
