Bucherons Get Gritty, 3-2 Win
|
The Thurso Bucherons got effective pitching from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Corey Lang. The 168 cm, 72 kg Lang muzzled the Lachute offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Bucherons Grounds. Lang, now 14-12, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 7, and allowing 2 runs. Bill Brenton picked up the save, his 7th.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Bill Horswill came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Lachute pitcher Anatolio Aguillón, he hit a 3-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Thurso on top, 3-2.
"We put it together and came out with the win," Lang said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
At 48-64, the Bucherons find themselves in last place in the Ligue du Baseball du Quebec Division Ouest.
