Bonebreakers Defeated, 4-0, After Markham Rallies
|
The Markham Wheelwrights topped the Pickering Bonebreakers, 4-0, in Ontario Baseball Association action at Bonebreakers Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Markham pitcher Finney Kelly. Kelly got the win, improving to 4-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 0 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Markham, now 61-54, holds down third place in the Ontario Baseball Association Ontario South.
Lewis Hill came through with a big-time hit for Markham. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 1-0. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It's no secret that good defense follows around people who throw strikes," said Markham manager Turlough Conner.
