In a low-scoring tilt between the Sault Ste. Marie Rapids and the Thessalon North Stars, Hernán Martínez, who is tied for 4th in the OBA in complete games with 18, was the difference-maker. The Sault Ste. Marie right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. The second-place North Stars dropped to 69-50.

Sault Ste. Marie got a clutch hit from Manuel Ramírez. The pinch hitter launched a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.

"This was a gut-wrenching loss," said Thessalon manager Guillermo Tobón, "the kind that'll give you an ulcer."
