Rapids Tag Sleeping Giants with 3-1 Loss
The Sault Ste. Marie Rapids beat the Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants, 3-1. Sault Ste. Marie pitcher and Orizaba, Mexico, native Hernán Martínez led the way. Sault Ste. Marie is now 61-66, Thunder Bay 64-59.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Rapids had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when designated hitter Dan Norris hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Édgar Martínez and made the score 2-1, Rapids. Norris was 1 for 3.

"Every play was important. Every out was important," said Rapids manager Silverio Gómez.
