Murcielagos 4-1 Winners Versus Orocovis
|
Wet weather did not postpone the Camuy-Orocovis ballgame.
Camuy Murcielagos starter Valentín Almanza found his groove in his team's 4-1 win over the Orocovis Caciques. Almanza, the winner, moves to 5-3. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 7 walks. Sabino Ávila got the save, his 20th in 23 chances.
The Murcielagos got a big at-bat from designated hitter Artemisio Cortez. For the game, Cortez went 1-4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 13th triple of the season gave Camuy a 2-1 lead.
Camuy manager Juan Romero commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
The win puts Camuy at 98-68 this season.
