The Winnipeg Strikers scooped up a win at Saskatoon Fields, dumping the Saskatoon Willows, 4-2. Hernán Peña was essential to his team's success. Peña, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Jean-Yves Ferrand nailed down his 1st save.

Caley Ennis had a big run-scoring double for the Strikers in the top of the sixth inning. With Winnipeg leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from 32-year old right-handed pitcher Pedro Sánchez and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Strikers ahead, 2-0.

"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Peña.

With the loss, Saskatoon sinks to 2-1.
