Strikers Slap 2-0 Loss on Saskatoon
|
The Saskatoon Willows and Winnipeg Strikers delighted fans at Winnipeg Grounds.
The Winnipeg Strikers picked up a win at Winnipeg Grounds, topping the Saskatoon Willows, 2-0. On the mound for Winnipeg was right-hander Theo Perry. He played a principal role in the triumph. Perry yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Allen Roy got the save, the 1st for him this season.
The Strikers got a big at-bat from center fielder Ryan Leck. For the game, Leck was 3 for 3 with a triple, a double, and a walk. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 10th double of the season gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead.
"Big team win," Leck said later.
The Strikers, at 29-33, sit in third place in the Plains League.
