Rum Runners Lose Versus Steinbach, 6-1
|
Arnulfo Sánchez, who is tied for 5th in the PL in innings pitched with 136.1, never let the Rum Runners get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Mennonites to a win, 6-1. The winning pitcher was Sánchez, now 12-2. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 6 and fanning 2. The loss makes Moose Jaw 30-33.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Luis Verdugo? The Steinbach third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Mennonites on top, 1-0. For the game, Verdugo had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"It's easier to pitch when you get run support," said Sánchez.
