Winnipeg turned a good effort from starter Ernesto Ceja into a win over the Saskatoon Willows at Winnipeg Grounds. The final score was 1-0. The winner was Ceja. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was David Middleton. The third-place Strikers hiked their record to 41-46.

Iapeto Hernández came through for Winnipeg when he hit a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike fastball to right-center field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.

"We did just enough to win," Ceja said.
