Saskatoon Beats Brandon, 3-1
|
Saskatoon Willows starter Patrizio Corticelli pitched a strong game against the Brandon Threshers at Saskatoon Fields, leading the Willows to victory, 3-1. Corticelli, who is tied for 2nd in the PL in quality starts with 16, went the distance for Saskatoon. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. The last-place Willows now have a win-loss record of 35-53.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Willows had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when third baseman Efraín Corpus hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Bill Wilton and made the score 2-0, Willows. Corpus was 1-3.
"Patrizio gave us everything he had," said Saskatoon manager Matías Magaña.
