Alpinists Deal Roaches 3-2 Loss
|
The Beaumont Alpinists racked up a win at Roaches Park, bumping off the Nacogdoches Roaches, 3-2. Louis Morris, who started for Beaumont, pitched effectively for his team. Morris, now 4-2, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The first-place Alpinists are now 22-10, the Roaches 19-13.
Beaumont used the timely hitting of Carlos Santos to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Alpinists ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We'll pocket this win," said Santos, "and then go after another."
