The Wichita Falls Yardmen got a superb performance from pitcher Adam Cotterill, but the Lubbock Layabouts still won the game, 3-2. Cotterill threw 9.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The Layabouts go to 22-29, putting them third in the Western Association Abilene Circuit.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 13th, 23-year old catcher Cawthra Smith had a chance to be the hero. Wichita Falls pitcher Hestio Ponce wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Smith drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Layabouts had themselves a thrilling win.

"This place was rockin'," said Smith.
