Amarillo third baseman William Stewart helped his team beat the Abilene Preachers, 7-4. Stewart went 3 for 5 for the Horizons. Amarillo pitcher Nicasio Rosales got the win. He's now 8-7. Herminio Sepúlveda was tagged with the loss. Jack Carpenter earned the save, his 6th.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the ninth, with the game tied, Salomón Cortez was at the plate when Amarillo scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Horizons to go in front, 6-4.

"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Stewart.

The second-place Horizons now have a win-loss record of 29-32.
