The Highwaymen earned a hard-fought, 3-2 win in 11 innings at Olympians Ballpark. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Tempe pitcher Teófilo Espinal. Espinal went 10 innings and allowed 2 runs. Noé Robert was the winner. Over 10 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Ángel Martínez earned the save, his 3rd.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Solón Ruiz? The 26-year old center fielder Ruiz stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put Tucson up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"This win should put a little bounce in our step," said Ruiz.

The second-place Highwaymen now have a record of 31-31.
