The Lubbock Layabouts faced a tenacious opponent in Wichita Falls pitcher Anacleto Meléndez, but still scratched out a win at Lubbock Grounds by a final score of 1-0 in 13 innings. Meléndez went 12.2 innings and allowed no runs. Lubbock pitcher Sotero Meza got the win. He's now 2-0. Hestio Ponce was tagged with the loss. The second-place Yardmen now sit at 41-27.

Bill Pallard played the role of hero for Lubbock. In the bottom of the 13th, he launched a solo home run off Hestio Ponce to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was the decisive blow.

"This wasn't a good win," said Pallard. "It was a great win."
