Preachers Suffer 7-3 Loss to Layabouts
The Abilene Preachers got a superb performance from center fielder Froilán Pérez, but the Lubbock Layabouts still won the game, 7-3. Pérez was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Nathan Mackay got the win, improving to 6-15. He worked 7.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The Layabouts saw their record improve to 37-43.

In the bottom of the fourth inning of a 2-2 tie, Lubbock left fielder Douggie Knights reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It broke the deadlock and put Lubbock on top, 3-2.

"There's still time to turn this season around," said Knights.
