The Amarillo Horizons could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Britomaro Pérez into a win. Instead, the Abilene Preachers prevailed, 9-5. Pérez came in in relief and pitched to 20 batters. Boland Ryan was the winning pitcher. Over 8.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 12 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Abilene bumps their record to 44-55 with the win.

Laureano López had a big 2-run double for the Preachers in the bottom of the third inning. With Abilene leading 4-2 and the bases loaded, he got a splitter from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Jake Church and swatted a double to left. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Preachers ahead, 6-2.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Abilene manager Jon Plotnick.
