The Taos Artists could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Lamberto Rosel into a win. Instead, the Albuquerque Dukes prevailed, 5-2. Rosel threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Carlos Rodríguez, the winning pitcher, is now 6-5. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 1. The save was credited to Fraser Miller, his 9th.
Mallon Brett had a big 2-run triple for the Dukes in the top of the first inning. With Albuquerque leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from 23-year old left-handed pitcher Lamberto Rosel and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dukes ahead, 4-0.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Brett told the Albuquerque Herald.
Albuquerque is now 54-52. Taos is 47-59.
