The Lubbock Layabouts defeated the Abilene Preachers, 6-4. Doing his part was shortstop Leopoldo Gutiérrez, who hit 2 home runs. Séptimo Salazar picked up the win, improving his season record to 9-17. He struck out 5 in 7.1 innings. Amaro Barrancos, who is tied for 10th in the WFBA in saves with 5, earned the save for Lubbock.

Lubbock won the game in part because of Bill Pallard. The left fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Layabouts ahead, 2-1. For the game, Pallard had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"Winning is the only objective," said Pallard after the game.

The third-place Layabouts bumped their record to 54-54.
