Alacranes Get Dramatic 6-3 Win
|
Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Cienfuegos Elefantes take on the Mayabeque Alacranes.
The Mayabeque Alacranes knocked off the Cienfuegos Elefantes, 6-3, at Estadio de los Elefantes. Arsenio García was a big reason Mayabeque won. The catcher was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Roy Robertson, who is tied for 9th in the TOCC in saves with 7, picked up the win in relief. Oliverio Pérez took the loss for Cienfuegos.
With Mayabeque leading 4-3 in the top of the eighth, García hit a 2-run single off Cienfuegos hurler Oliverio Pérez. It was the 70th hit of the season for García and put his team ahead, 6-3.
"It was a solid team effort," said García after the game.
The Mayabeque winning streak has reached 3 games.
