Pinar del Rio got a big-time effort from pitcher Gedeón Rubio, but it wasn't enough to keep the Mayabeque Alacranes from winning the game, 5-2. Rubio threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Berengario Leija recorded the save, making him 17 for 19. The Alacranes move to 63-50 with the win, while the Guajiros drop to 54-59.

Alberto Maestro drove in one run for Mayabeque. The 27-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Héctor Arellano. It was his 10th RBI of the season.

Maestro attributed the win to "concerted effort and focus."
