Martenos Come Back Late to Top Tabacaleros, 6-4
Wet weather did not postpone the Manzanillo-Trinidad ballgame.

The Manzanillo Martenos beat the Trinidad Tabacaleros, 6-4, with major props going to right fielder Miqueas Velásquez. On the day, Velásquez went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Martenos. Manzanillo reliever Víctor Rivera picked up the win. Noé Valerio, who led the TORI in wins with 21 in 1903, took the loss for Trinidad.

Velásquez had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-1 curveball from Noé Valerio, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Martenos a 6-4 lead. It was the 29th home run of the year for Velásquez.

"When the ball finds the sweet spot," said Velásquez, "I can't complain."

Manzanillo now owns a record of 68-43.
