Sleeping Giants Handled by Nipissing, 5-2
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Nipissing Air Marshals and Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants.
The Nipissing Air Marshals defeated the Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants, 5-2, in Ontario Baseball Association action at Air Marshals Park. Nipissing pitcher Luis Delgado had a standout performance. Delgado, now 7-5, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Bob Rollin recorded the save, his 3rd.
Nipissing took a 3-2 lead on Dwayne Chalmers's 4th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Chalmers hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Thunder Bay pitcher Braulio Saligán visibly frustrated.
Nipissing manager Jerry Kane said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
The Air Marshals saw their win-loss record go to 42-85. At the same time, the Sleeping Giants fell to 67-60.
