The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Steinbach fans at Steinbach Grounds.

The Steinbach Mennonites had to overcome a big game from Brandon shortstop Ricardo de Hoyos to leave Steinbach Grounds with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-4. de Hoyos went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs. Elías Martínez, the winning pitcher, is now 11-12. He went 7.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 5. Benedicto Meléndez recorded the save, his 1st.

The Mennonites got an important contribution from designated hitter Valentyn Fiala, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a first pitch changeup to left for a 2-run double. It was his 11th double of the season and put the Mennonites ahead, 6-0.

"I believe in our guys," said Steinbach skipper Devin Durrett. "I like the energy they're playing with."

With the win over Brandon, the Mennonites improved to 51-57.
