Saskatoon Scrapes Out 3-2 Win
|
The Saskatoon Willows, despite a fine performance by Brandon pitcher Leoncio Gallegos, grabbed a 3-2 win in 15 innings at Saskatoon Fields. Gallegos allowed 2 runs over 9 innings. The win was credited to Daniel Villanueva in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Ronaldo Luna took the loss. Saskatoon, now 45-69, holds down last place in the Plains League.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 15th, 29-year old third baseman Efraín Corpus had a chance to be the hero. Brandon pitcher Ronaldo Luna wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Corpus hit a sacrifice fly. The Willows had themselves a thrilling win.
"This place sure got loud," said Matías Magaña, the Saskatoon manager.
