Rafael Sandoval was terrific for the Calgary Chargers in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Kelowna Grizzlies. His performance earned Sandoval rave reviews. Sandoval, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 4 walks. Mario Landata earned the save for Calgary, his 2nd of the year.
Calgary used the hitting of Peter Tukana to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Chargers on top, 4-0. For the game, Tukana had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Kelowna skipper Aidan Gordon, "and it cost us."
Calgary is now 48-67, while Kelowna is 58-56.
