The Steinbach Mennonites overcame a good performance by Brandon shortstop Federico Callaia to knock off Brandon, 6-5, at Threshers Park. Callaia was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Alberto Barron earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 1.1 innings. His record is now 7-6. By defeating Brandon, the 4th-place Mennonites improved to 48-70.

Admeto Sánchez came through with a big-time hit for Steinbach. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

In comments to the Steinbach Citizen, Sánchez admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
