Browns Drop Reds, 4-3, with Late Score
|
The Cincinnati Reds got a sterling performance from pitcher Brendan McDowell, but the St. Louis Browns still prevailed, 4-3. McDowell threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. Ben Lowe, who is tied for 8th in the WL in wins with 6, was the winner in relief. His record is now 6-4. The losing pitcher was Brendan McDowell. The Browns saw their record improve to 17-36.
Had John Kane not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Kane hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Browns.
"The other side took advantage in some key situations," said Cincinnati manager Marshall Locke.
