|
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
Camaguey pitcher Cástor Caraballo did his part in helping his team beat the Ciego de Avila Monjes Grises, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Caraballo, now 5-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Marcos Arias converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Abdón Saldaña, who finished 3rd in the TORI in doubles with 29 in 1909, had a direct impact on the outcome. Saldaña contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Camaguey up, 4-2.
"Winning never gets dull," said Caraballo.
Camaguey now sits at 59-62, while Ciego de Avila falls to 49-67.
