Fans who congregated at Estadio de los Escultores were treated to extra-inning drama.

The performance of Faustino Lecea proved critical in helping Santiago de Cuba beat Las Tunas, 5-3, in 11 innings. The Soneros left fielder went 3-5 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI. Arthur Ball snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-6 on the season.

In the top of the 11th, with the game tied, the Escultores allowed the Soneros to take a 5-3 lead on a base hit and Las Tunas error.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Soneros manager Hortensio Pérez.

The third-place Soneros own a record of 43-80.
