Rafagas Lose Late to Martenos
|
The Manzanillo Martenos had to overcome a fine effort from Bayamo pitcher Jeremy Kenny to win, 3-1, at Campo de los Martenos. Kenny went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. The win went to Víctor Rivera in relief, making him now 8-5. Stephen Worsnop took the loss for Bayamo. With the win, the Martenos improved to 77-49.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Etelfrido Briones was at the plate when Manzanillo scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Martenos to go in front, 2-1.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Bayamo manager Robert Faure.
