Mayabeque picked up a win at Estadio de Santa Clara, bumping off the Santa Clara Leopardos, 5-2. Pitcher Natalino Hernández was a major reason the Alacranes emerged victorious. Hernández, the winner, moves to 12-11. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 6 walks. Santa Clara has now lost 5 straight.
With Mayabeque leading 2-0 in the top of the sixth, Hernández hit a 2-run single off Santa Clara hurler Pedro García. It was the 15th hit of the season for Hernández and put his team ahead, 4-0.
Hernández said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
