Monjes Grises Upend Soneros, 2-1

Conditions were not ideal but Ciego de Avila and Santiago de Cuba were able to put their game in the books.
Ciego de Avila pitcher Eduardo Tovar did his part in helping his team defeat the Santiago de Cuba Soneros, 2-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Tovar picked up the win for Ciego de Avila, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 7-3. Eppa Rixey, who is tied for 6th in the TORI with a 4.7 K/9 rate, earned the save for Ciego de Avila.
Tovar hit a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth to help the Ciego de Avila cause. The single, which was hit off Clemente Gutiérrez, allowed Ciego de Avila to take a 2-1 lead.
"Tough loss," said Santiago de Cuba manager Hortensio Pérez. "This one will stick in my craw."
The Monjes Grises are now 55-72, while the Soneros fall to 46-82.
