Spirited fans greeted the Guantanamo Cocoteros for their clash with the Las Tunas Escultores.

The Las Tunas Escultores beat the Guantanamo Cocoteros, 9-0, at Campo de los Cocoteros. The win was due in part to center fielder Lino Martinez, who went 2-5 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Jonás Hernández, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held the Cocoteros to no runs on 3 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 4.

In the top of the first, Las Tunas catcher Mateo Saiz had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Guantanamo hurler Manuel Domínguez, Saiz drew a walk, driving in 1 run. That made the score 3-0, Las Tunas. For the day, Saiz was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 times.

"What a lackluster performance," lamented losing manager Normando de León.

Las Tunas currently is in second place in the Torneo Oriental Bayamo at 78-54.
