Barquisimeto got a terrific performance from pitcher Ángel Novoa, but it wasn't enough to beat the Barinas Viajeros. Barinas won the Barquisimeto Stadium contest, 4-2. Novoa threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winner in relief was Federico Rodríguez. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. The Viajeros raised their record to 2-6.

Barinas used the timely hitting of Plutarco Flores to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Viajeros on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Flores told a Barinas Gazette reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
