Soneros Slap 5-2 Loss on Holguin
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the two-time All-Star Alex Thompson, the Santiago de Cuba Soneros stopped the Holguin Pericos, 5-2, in 9 innings. Mo Tuck was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 6 hits, with 6 walks and no strikeouts. Manuel Zendejas was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 8 of 13 save opportunities.
With Santiago de Cuba leading 3-0 in the bottom of the second, Thompson hit a 2-run single off Holguin hurler Scannell Taylor. It was the 134th hit of the season for Thompson and put his team ahead, 5-0.
