The Maracaibo Independientes beat the Coro Bizantinos, 8-5, at Estadio de Coro. Estaçio Manton, who finished 4th in the LO in extra base hits with 38 in 1906, starred for Maracaibo. He went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Maracaibo sits at 6-6 in the early going.

With Maracaibo leading 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Manton hit a sinker from Ramón Valentín for a 2-run double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Independientes ahead, 7-4.
