Cranston and Newport got after it at Madonna's Niche.

The Newport Pilot Whales went down to defeat to Vicente Rivera and his Cranston teammates. The final score was 8-0, in favor of the Madonnas. With the win, Cranston lifts its record to 20-4.

The Madonnas got a big hit from second baseman Luis Martín. Facing Newport pitcher Lorenzo Montenegro in the bottom of the fifth, Martín pounded a bases-clearing double to center. His 3rd double of the season put the Madonnas ahead, 7-0.

"We took it on the chin tonight," said losing manager Jackson Strelioff.
