Slumping Gamblers Lose Again
|
The Derry Spuds extended their winning streak.
The Derry Spuds and starting pitcher Bernardo Ramírez stifled the Manchester offense en route to a comfortable 8-2 win at Gamblers Den. Ramírez got the win, improving to 9-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs.
Big Bill Smith was vital to the Derry win. He was 1-4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the second with one out, Smith hit a 2-run single. It made the score 4-0, in favor of the Spuds.
"When you're losing, the game looks more difficult to play than it is," said Manchester manager Bill Schenck.
The winning continues for Derry, with the latest triumph making it 7 straight.
