The skies opened up and the rain fell at The Grove.

The Waterville Elms locked up a win at The Grove, knocking off the Bangor River Hogs, 4-3. On the mound for Waterville was right-hander Álvaro Piña. He played a major role in the triumph. Lorenzo Flores got credit for the save for Waterville. It was his 1st of the year.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jack Johnson came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Bangor pitcher Angel D'Meza, he hit a 1-2 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Waterville on top, 4-3.

"I just trusted my stuff," said Piña.

The win for the Elms lifted their record to 29-25.
