Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Burlington Lightermen and Rutland Quarrymen.
The Burlington Lightermen picked up a win at The Pit, knocking off the Rutland Quarrymen, 6-4. On the mound for Burlington was right-hander Adrián Ambriz. He played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Ambriz, now 3-0. He tossed 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Arquímedes Guevara? The Burlington center fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Lightermen on top, 2-0. For the game, Guevara had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Adrián's a gamer," said Burlington manager Daniel Garza. "Glad he's on our side."
Burlington bumps their record to 45-35 with the win.
