Rutland Upended, 7-6, by Burlington
|
The Burlington Lightermen defeated the Rutland Quarrymen, 7-6, at The Pit. Leading the charge for Burlington was second baseman Stéphane Perez. He went 1 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Facundo Garza earned the win. Declan Henderson took the loss for Rutland. The Lightermen go to 44-48, putting them third in the Northern New England Association Vermont Circuit.
Perez made an early impact for Burlington when he stroked his 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came in the top of the third, put the Lightermen on top, 3-1.
"It feels good to get this one," Perez told the Burlington Herald.
